John was one of the founding directors of ROCBF in 2006 while already a director (2002 – 2013) of the Robert Owen Credit Union from which it was born.
For several years around that time he was also a director of a number of other organizations.
He is an active member of several organizations exploring and furthering cybernetics and systems application, including in particular the preservation of Stafford Beer’s legacy in management cybernetics.
Over the past few decades has been involved in a diversity of projects relating to economic localization, co-operation and community empowerment. He is a member of the Open Money Development Group and a Fellow of The Schumacher Institute.
An eclectic experimenter, he is currently developing modelling and simulation software for resilient semi-autonomous local economies and information-preserving, high-variety currency systems, as well as experimental approaches to networked environmental monitoring and mapping.
